SAFE REFUGE: What to Expect When You
Stay in a Domestic Violence Shelter
This DVD contains 14 different language interpretations of
common shelter expectations (each language segment is 4-10
minutes long). The 14 languages represented are: Amharic,
ASL/English, Cambodian, Korean, Laotian, Mandarin, Punjabi,
Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Ukranian, and Vietnamese.
Please Note: This preview is a compilation of the different
segments included on the DVD. You will see English subtitles
with samples of the 14 languages. The actual DVD contains this
dialogue, reproduced in full in each language without subtitles
(with the exception of ASL/English, which contains subtitles).
This tool helps limited or non-English speakers both prepare for what to expect when going to a domestic violence shelter and to understand what may be expected of them once they arrive. This is an ideal resource for shelters, community groups, healthcare facilities, clergy & law enforcement. The DVD also includes written translations and footage of actual shelters.
The cost to purchase the DVD is $30 for KCCADV members /
$45 for non-members / plus shipping & handling. Place
your order via our secure online order form.
